An early success at CAC Papa 2.

What the newspaper doesn't say is that it was one of our PFs who spotted the ambush. The PF, Ha Si Phu, was assassinated by the Viet Cong as he slept in his home in 1968. His wife, with their three month old daughter, was working in the rice paddies.


I met Ha Si Phu's daughter, and two of his grandchildren, when I returned to Vietnam in 1996.

PF Le Van Thu, one hell of a good trooper.
He was assassinated in 1968. This picture was taken sometime
early in Phuoc My. We see some of the Sea Bees in the background
building one of our hardbacks.
